Melting Heart
Blackened tears drench your freckled cheeks
Their rivers streaming to quivering lips
It hasn’t been long since those rivers last flooded
The sun glared from above, bearing sweetness of summer just like today
Why bring these tears upon yourself again? Why tear down the dam of suffering?
For the craving thirst of emerald jealousy or frigid depths of indifference
Is it pure selfishness that causes your misery?
Your head hanging bleakly upon your chest
Amber eyes full of shame, hidden behind blackout curtains of dark hair
Yet the shame is false, merely a façade to evoke pity and justify your cruelty
Is it sadism that drains your face of color?
As it takes on the dull complexion of ice
You are ice. Heart frozen to a gleaming shine like a crimson pebble
It glistens as diamond, polished with love’s tears
These frosty tears flow down your face as you weep inconsolably
For even your heart of ice melts when it realizes what you’ve done
