Souls
Not what he looks on the outside,
biting thoughts and turmoil within,
rough hands and a soft heart.
Our souls within the space between our eyes,
intertwining like a mist.
Embraced so securely, I won’t float away.
Keeping me grounded and sane,
but only as long as he’s in the reach of my arms,
outstretched,
searching for warmth and strength,
found,
in the touch and in the sound.
A fellow beating heart,
an aching soul,
bleeding from the hurt of the world
