The Dancer
The dancer holds her arms up
High fifth position
She pirouettes twice and leaps
Grand Jete
She waltzes then
Around the stage
Then kicks her left leg high
Holding the hand of her partner
Relying on him for support
As she moves gracefully
Beautifully
Point shoes just an accompanying drum
To the music
She finishes
Curtseys to the audience
The Cheering audience
The pain in her feet
Worn by point shoes
Is nothing compared to the pain in her life
The misery and loneliness
But that does not matter
Nothing does
Just the music
The cheering
The exhilaration
