The Mask
Across the room glances
I'm wondering if I should take a chance
All I can see is your eyes,
Those mysterious eyes
You smile at me
but you cannot see
The smile underneath
The mask that hides me
I give you a small nod
your eyes shine in respond
Walking over gracefully
You come Next to me
After some talk
You suggest a walk
complimenting my laugh
and personality
But what you don't know
I'm only allowing you what i want
You to see, the real me isn't
What you think
You smile at me
But you cannot see
The smile underneath
The mask that hides me
You try to uncover
The truth that's hidden
But all i can do
Is push you away
I hurt myself
Protecting you from me
But you don't understand
How I feel
I try to reveal
But you wouldn't understand
Why I'm hiding
Behind the mask
You give up on me
But you cannot see
The tears i shed underneath
The mask that hides me...
