Daddy's Wings
She wants to grow wings
So she can learn how to fly
To live where angels sing
Way up in the sky's
She hears their sweet sounds
Singing out her name
And a father no longer earth bound
Misses her just the same
She looks up wanting him by her side
But she knows he dies for her
When that big truck hit her daddy
She knew he was lost
But now he walks with his daddy
And her life was his cost
She knows he is safe up there
Looking down upon his little girl
And at his grave she says a prayer
"daddy I know you're not in this world
But I know you'll still hold my hand
I know you're with Jesus now
In his big golden land
I'll have wings and you'll show me how
To use them just like you
Watch over momma please
Cause daddy we love you"
Her last words are caught in the breeze
And she lays his dogtags down
A soldier finally returned
And was placed in the ground
His daughters love not burned
