The Midnight Chase
The rain falls so hard,
it hits the pavement and bounces back up.
Everyone's inside screaming-
crying.
Mom's got her bags packed,
and she's ready to go.
The little girl tries to hold her brother back,
So he can stay safe at home with her.
Mom grabs him back and runs out the door.
The little girl-
barefoot with no coat on-
Chases her mom down the road,
In the pouring rain,
In the dead of night.
