I Reckon...
I reckon as the days go by,
My legs will grow weary,
My body will wither,
And my last breath will come in due time.
I reckon as the hours pass,
My children will grow older,
My grandchildren will forget me,
And my great-grandchildren will have never known me.
I reckon as the minutes move on,
Life will have met me,
Our friendship riddled with joys and fears,
But I await Death’s sweet embrace.
So I reckon in my final seconds,
God will hold my hand,
As life holds onto me,
And I will walk into Death’s outstretched arms.
