Reality
Your face –
half-covered with shadows
not so distant from my own
carefully, I touch your cheek
to prove to both of us
this is reality.
Your eyes –
not so long ago as bright as the stars
and the beautiful moon
hanging above us
now, fading dimmer and dimmer
as you slowly realize
this is reality.
Your hair –
tousled at best
captivates my fingers
refusing to be let go
holding on tight as I think
this is reality.
Your lips
unmoving, yet screaming
not as brave as your touch
quivering oh-so subtly
they open softly
as you whisper in disbelief
“this is reality.”
