Her Power
Did she know she had that power?
To bring me up and down with each word
To ache with sorrow or joy
From one sentence to the next
Lips forming words so clear
Eyes telling stories
With winks and lashes
Luring me further in
She brought my world tumbling down
Then rebuilt it in her design
The terrible ride she took me on
Day to day
Holding my hand the whole way
And finally
When she let go
My voice left me
I lie in wait for the day
For it to return
Carried by the tides
So I may scream
