What I Want
I don’t want to be young,
I don’t want to mess up,
I don’t want to be lonely,
I don’t want have scars.
I’ve grown up a lot
From the last time
You looked at me,
When all you saw was a child.
I’ve become much better
At doing things right;
On the outside I hide
The bad parts of me.
I only feel alone, now,
Laying in the dark,
Pretending to be asleep,
While my friends gossip about me.
My scars are gone,
According to you,
Ignorant to the tissue
Bleeding within me.
I just want to be young,
And able to mess up,
To not notice when I’m alone,
To give back the scars I was given.
But I can’t
When you’re here.
So I hide,
And pretend.
