Spring's Shell Has Cracked
The sky today
was a pastel blend
of fire, aqua
and the feeling of 6 A.M.
and it danced about
the lavender clouds
that pulled pink and orange
from where the sun
was pushing itself over the horizon.
The branches broke the sky
into a cracked puzzle of colors
that traced the lines of other
arms from trees
and just seeing it made it
hard to breathe.
It’s as if that sky
was beckoning Spring, and was
begging it to bring
the polychromes of the season;
flower heads kissing bees
and shower heads kissing me.
The world will be clean
and I’m saying what I mean,
rain will bring life
and life will bring happiness.
