Summertime
I could say that I loved the cold weather
The snow
Coming home to a warm house
And having hot chocolate by the fire.
I could say that winter was my favorite season
But I would be lying.
I miss those warm, breezy nights
When the sun doesn’t sink down the horizon
Until the late evening
I long for those quick rain showers
The ones that are warm enough
To run outside and get soaked in
Feeling hot pavement under my bare feet
As I smell a freshly mowed lawn
Hearing the sounds of a barbeque
And the locusts and crickets in the backyard
Chirping away
I cannot wait for those late night swims
And the nights that are too humid
To sleep with your heavy bed comforter
Summer is on its way,
But it needs to come faster
The wind and snow from the coldness
Is getting to be too much
And I don’t know
If I can take it any longer
