In Retrospect
In retrospect, I should’ve listened
But I didn’t. I should’ve, I suppose
I was drowning in my own words
Look how far that got me.
In retrospect, I should’ve been logical
But I “followed my heart”
It’s the brightest of fires but the most unreliable
And look what happened as a result
In retrospect, I should’ve seen it coming
After all, you made it so obvious, didn’t you?
Ironically, your image was my blindfold
And look at what I have to see today?
In retrospect, it was regrettable
Or was it, really?
Because, after all
I would’ve never known you like I do.
