Adventures We Had Together
Oh, how we would traverse
the deserts,
the dense brush,
the deep rivers,
the enigmatic mysteries.
And we lost ourselves
but knew where we were,
the scents,
the sights,
the green,
the beauty.
The good times we had there.
Our most grand responsibility:
finding our next meal.
“Baby,” I said, “goodnight,”
as we laid down by the river.
And we heard nothing else,
our eyes closed
against the world’s harsh
and impure deceits.
We woke up in our bed together,
warm with thick white blankets.
“Baby,” I said, “good morning,”
as we rolled out of bed.
And we heard nothing else,
our eyes open
to the (maybe) real world
and beautiful true love.
“Our Never Never Land is here,” I said.
