Band Tradegy
I walk over
not wanting to say anything
there's an empty seat
by some people in the band,
mainly juniors and seniors.
I'm the only freshman.
Soon I had five times the amount of friends than before.
I found myself looking forward
to each day I saw my friends.
Then came the beautiful month of May
but it was the worst month of the year.
About three of my closest friends were graduating.
Then the unthinkable happened.
Emily died in a car crash.
The most wonderful person.
She touched almost every person she saw.
Not a word was said in band the day after.
The noisiest room in the school,
utterly silent.
Emily was the Drum Major.
Just then, I realized.
This is no ordinary band,
this is a family.
