A Poet's Purpose
One may hear the phrase "kissed by a muse",
I myself have been pecked a time or two,
On warm Spring days,
When the wild flowers wrap the meadows in their bloom,
Or crisp Autumn nights,
As I gaze upon the cloud dappled sky,
They arrive,
To wrap me in their embrace,
And whenever my creativity flies,
They give chase,
I see them in my minds eye,
Hear their songs whispered in my ear,
By the cool summer breeze,
They come to me,
To remind me to help others,
Love life and live joyously,
Through my poetry.

Thanks!!
I feel that our poetry doens't come fomr us and this poem was a whimsical way to express my views on that . :)
I think this is the one you asked me to read. I like it. I agree with what tdnarb said... that comparing an original idea to a kiss is very original.
The whole poem goes along with the idea that not everything we write is written by us. Beautiful work.
