The Dance
Misery is dismal company to keep
It brings down the heart when weak
Misery brings its friends self pity and pain
The tears that streak your face leave a stain
Depression sets in on the wake of it all
Your life is plummeting but you enjoy the fall
The crash is comforting as it burns
Happy to feel anything in return
For your silent groping at strings
You try to fly with tattered wings
With time you will heal
And you will wonder if that dark time was real
For now struggle on through the blackest night
Just don’t give in or give up the fight
Life is both to short and to long in its way
It ends just as you begin to enjoy your stay
Like a dance to a bitter sweet song
Lay your head on the one you’re dancing with chest and sing along
You’ll find that you already know the words
Though it’s a song you’ve never heard
It’s a combination of dreams lost and dreams found
It’s the stuff from your childhood you’ve carted around
It’s the sound of laughter and the sound of dripping tears
It’s the sound of so many years
Falling struggling laughing your way in a trance
Just don’t forget to enjoy the dance
