Midnight Rain
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter
The midnight rain falls relentlessly against her window
She is still wide awake, wearing a blank visage
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter
The rain is falling harder.
Slowly, she rises from the soft sea of white blankets
And walks towards her looming window
It seems as if it might even be glowing.
Instantly, the dreamer pulls her curtains back and gazes up at the shining glass droplets.
“It’s as if they are all having a race,” she thinks. “Which raindrop can beat the rest?”
Suddenly, she has a silly idea, childish even
With a burst of impulse, she throws open the door
And buckets of rain shower over her.
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter
The dreamer steps onto the wet green grass in all her glory
Spreading her arms, dresses in a nightie
She lets each drop of rain touch her heart
It washes her worries away.
She opens her eyes, and feels the drops hug her eyelashes
Gazing up at the deep blanket of blue,
She smiles for the first time in forever.
