If life is like a chocolate box,
I think mine’s defective.
Too much caramel, too many raspberry swirls,
not enough nougat,
not enough nuts…
…If you know what I mean.
But hey, isn’t that the fun,
lifting back the gaudy, crinkly paper to peer inside,
a set number of these and a set number of those.
how dare you try to switch them around,
trade them around.
for as soon as you change,
the beauty is gone.
the beauty of arrangement,
of arranged obscurity,
of surprise.
But in the end,
you still have too much caramel, too many raspberry swirls,
not enough nougat,
not enough nuts.
Can I get a new box?
