The Ravens of Fate
The ravens of fate
as the Grimm brothers called it
are perched upon your head
talking to each other
bickering, really
over what is to come
and how to stop it.
What is to come
you ask.
The first raven
answers
“Your soul will be
impure
from this day
and onward.”
How can I stop it
you ask.
The second raven replies
“There is a way
but it is difficult.
You must turn
from your society
from ideals
and principles
and make your own
before it is too late.
Before their impurity
rubs off on you.”
Impurity?
You might ask.
What is that crazy bird
talking about?
But you know.
The evils
of the world
are impure.
But you
are young
and you can choose the path you follow.
“Bring white pebbles,”
The third raven says,
“In case you get lost
along your way.”
