The Waves Are Mocking Me
remember when I went insane
and the steady waves chanted it over
and over
and over
mocking me
beat it out upon the rocks
and I told them to be quiet
told them that they must stop telling everyone
that I had lost my mind
I hushed the waves
but they didn't listen
remember how they pulled me
sucking the ground from my feet
whispering
“no one needs you up above,
come with me
it's more peaceful
and no one needs their sanity down here”
and I said
“no,
I would miss the stars too much”
now I wish I had gone
because under the ocean
I wouldn't have to hear the steady hiss
of the sea
telling me
I'd gone over the edge
and spilled all my brains out of my ears
if I had gone
they would finally
be silent
