&quot;Humanity can be quite cold to those whose eyes see the world differently.&quot;<br /> Eric A. Burns, Gossamer Commons, 08-24-05

You came to us in the dawn of time.
We picked up sticks,
We started fires.
The wheel was set in motion once we
carved it from the stone.
Our bodies no longer bare,
Our world no longer cold,
We rose up on two legs
And your virgin shores explored.

You were the key to every door,
The window to all things still unknown,
You mapped the road to paradise
And we set out for home.

But giants grow, as all men know,
And our heads, they reached the sky.
We left you alone
Pursued answers of our own
And from neglect, you withered and died.

I wrote this piece for an assignment, too...I had to write an elegy, and this sort of came out of it.

This is really good

"you were the key to every door,

the window to all things still unknown,"

i really like that line. this poem shoes a lot of talent, and it's at a length that will captivate people without them getting bored halfway through. =] i always think it's hard to find the perfect length of a poem. good job =] gave you five stars =]
