Epilepsy
As the car drives by the trees
the sun strobes behind them,
flashing so bright then
casting split-second shadows.
The light and the shade
are having a fight that won’t fade
and my eyes cannot take
the speed they are feuding at.
My autumn-colored viewers
try to absorb the war
between the opposites
until they cannot take it anymore.
They slam shut fast
and try to wait for it to pass
because the contrast of the spectrum
made my body shake and tremor.
Now I sit and wonder
if I really am okay
because the night and day
took control of me so easily.
I reassure myself that this is
My bones and My blood.
But the truth enlies in the flood
of the spastic white strobing light
that is looking for consistency that
it will never find.
While it searches it might as well
strike-shock my mind.
Makes my brain go blank,
seeing black-
A sky with no stars.
Just take me back to where they are
And maybe I will breathe again.
