My Room Is Sick
my room is sick and tired
of you
and I am sick and tired of you too
you never held the door
or swept up the snow from my eyes
when your cold words
made me cry frozen tears
you never
wrote my name in the sand
with a twig
or helped me to my feet
this room is full of bad memories
bad pretending-games
for you
and it wants to be rid of your smell
I kind of like it
but I will burn it away
for the sake of the room
maybe then I will be able to sleep
and then the room and I
can pretend
you were never here
at all
