The look on your face when you know you’ve done something wrong.
The excitement of a child on Christmas day,
The fondness of child’s play.
The peace after thanksgiving dinner,
That moment when you realize you’re a winner.
The unloved child finding a place they fit,
That warming feeling you get knowing you have a place to sit.
The smile that grows on your face when you know there is someone waiting for your return,
The glow as you watch the campfire burn.
A great movie,
The way old people say groovy.
The unexpected friend,
The triumph when your parents bend.
The purr of a cat,
The way she swings her bat.
When you finally gain the animals trust,
When you are so excited you feel like you might bust.
They unexplained feeling,
Letter sealing.
The rush of blood to your face because of a blush,
The unknown crush.
The feeling of sand in my toes,
When happiness grows.
When you can’t stop from laughing out loud,
When you know you’ve made your parents proud.
All these things make me smile,
And happy for awhile.
