Shatter
My hands could firmly grasp you
Squeeze you until it burned
I felt fire ignite in my veins
Scorching form the heat of your touch
And that day flew by
Life a bird setting off for its journey
Never intending to return
And now my blood is frozen
My cold veins have cracked
My fingers struggle for your warmth
Twiddling limply in the thin, sharp air
Like a baby reaching eagerly for a sweet
Now all I can do
Is hope
That the beautiful bird
Will retrace it's footsteps
And fly back home.
