Little Ladybug
A stroke of luck I find you,
Little Ladybug.
Sitting on my television stand,
The bitter cold forcing you in.
You yearn to stay warm
Just as we humans.
And so I sit for awhile,
Pondering what to do with you.
I'd love to keep you here
All snug and warm.
But I forget you are a bug
Bugs need food; vegetation.
Something only mother nature has
But I am hesitant,
Even lady bugs get cold outside.
You seem special-
For no spots are on your wings.
I remind myself something important:
If you love something,
Set it free.
And so you crawl onto my index finger
Nimble, quick, humble.
Little Ladybug
I open my window and let you go
I cannot see you flutter or fall.
Symbolism of my life,
Flying in the dark.
I hope that someday you'll return
Keep me company once more,
Little Ladybug.
