True Happiness MAG
It's a community, our family
We spend the cold hours in the shadows of the alleyway
Food wafting in the air from the expensive restaurants down the road
Happy people with bulging wallets stride past
They aren't happy – it's just a label
The happy people aren't looking at us
They seem to be only interested in the stable chaos of the graffitied walls
It reminds them of their own internal chaos
Stemming from their own nostalgic reasonings, but then
They take a break from the chaos of the walls
And have a $4.50 skinny latté with soy
And a healthy, wholesome $8.00 bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon
And they briefly wonder about the kids in the alleyway –
But they forget as they bite into their $8.00 bagel –
And we sit here in the shadows of the alleyway
Unseen and happy in our community of chaos.
