New Years
I was sitting in the dark
In the back of the truck
Waiting for the fireworks to start
In an unknown place
I was so young
Snuggled up to my mom
Afraid of the dark
Afraid of what was out there
The ocean
The forest
Something from there would get me
Suddenly overhead
BOOM! BOOM!
The fireworks were starting
At that time I didn’t know what fireworks were
To me they were pretty lights
That made loud noises
Out of the corner of my eye I saw something
Something calling my name
Something that didn’t look human
I started to cry
But no one else could see
It was bigger then a man, and wider too
Something I heard of in legends passed down
Part man
Part animal
The sight of it meant
That I was going to die
But no one else saw it
