The Lonely Mannequin
She watched the world through a glass window
The real world
How she desired to touch
To breathe
To move
How she envied the couples who walked by
With their bony hands intertwined
Her own plastic feet were glued to the floor
She watched the living walk
Unorganized and imperfect
Slouching, yawning, burping
While her own body stood poised
Tall and perfectly sketched and carved
Why couldn’t she be normal
Why couldn’t she be real
