forest dancer
with goddess eyes
lady of the bastion
golden tree-speaker
of delicate wiles
broad-leaf ears
flicker twitch swivel
persuade us forward
then flit away
from shadow to shadow
shaft to shaft
slanting shades of a certain grey
dappled burnished
tarnished bright
her gentle flow of
being alive
forest dancer
with goddess eyes
run to the earth
felled by so many princes
so noble and bright
by swift shining arrows
like lightning cold
and dead
shroud of flies
crows cry mourning
