My Love
And when the darkness filled the cracks in my window
I’d always find your hand in mine
And when I’d sit there with tears covering my sight
You were there by my side
And you knew from the breath under my voice
When things just weren’t alright
You knew just what to say, how close to hold me
Until aimlessly I fell asleep in your arms
I awoke in need of your warmth,
I grasped onto blankets, space, and emptiness
I screamed for you, I cried your name
And my love, you were not there
If you are there, my love,
Hold onto me; let my heart beat next to yours
When I crave your strength, your comfort
Whisper in my ears and tell me I’m unstoppable
When I roll over and long for your warmth
And an occasional midnight kiss
But only find a cold empty space,
Brush the apple of my cheek with your hand and tell me you’re still there
