The Storm
O War, Great War, the darkest of wars,
Bring peace to the restless world.
O War, Great War, the darkest of wars,
Bring peace to the restless world.
The clouds close in on a bleakly shining sky
As the rain begins to fall.
The sun fades out and leaves the world in darkness
For the war is about to begin.
Two foes, once friends, now advance with their troops
For fate has broken them apart.
No man can dissuade them from the path of deathly strife,
For the war has beckoned them onward.
As the sides cross blades, a sudden bolt strikes the earth
In the middle of the battlefield.
But another, even fiercer, moves in towards the foes’ anger
And destroys their once-sacred swords.
And now, unarmed, the foes begin to see
That there is no need for hatred.
Their troops arise and follow them back home,
For the war has quenched their restlessness.
The sun creeps out and heaves dark clouds away
As the world begins to revive.
The rain, once torrent, now patters to a halt
For the war has come to an end.
