I Just Couldn't Stay

the walls came crumbling down,
when i realized you couldn't save yourself.
i thought that i could hold you
before you fell away.
i thought that i could save you,
but you weren't meant to stay.
i tried so hard
to give you the strength
to seize the day
and not fall away.
i'm sorry, oh so sorry,
i just couldn't stay.
