Summer Lovin'
Time spent together
Under the hot summer sun;
Shared looks meaning only -
I hope you're the one.
Everything was perfect -
Me flirting with you
(You didn't always flirt first)
Happy texts outta the blue.
Eventually we each
Finally gathered the nerve
To kiss each other one night
Near my truck by the curb.
I look back on that night
With a smile then a frown -
Because while I'm Remembering Sunday,
You aren't really around.
I make up excuses
Try to avoid the fact
That maybe, just possibly,
This perfection is cracked.
He loves me, He loves me not,
Ups and Downs,
Back and Forth,
Blissful smiles, frustrated frowns.
I'm about to give up,
This round-n-round makes me dizzy
Then you give me a look
That sends my heart into a frenzy.
I waste a precious second,
Your hungry lips on mine,
Wondering if this roller coaster called love
Is worth the time and trouble to ride.
After a brief internal debate,
I decide I'm willing to see
Where this roller coaster goes
And find that your lips- agree. <3
