Fly Away From Here
A little fluttering of wings
Passes my ear
The sound is delicate
As if a snap of a finger
Could break it
I turn just in time
To see a yellow blur
Dancing across my vision
It’s small
Yet it has the air
Of a powerful ruler
It makes one appreciate
Its presence
And in some ways
Bow down to its beauty
I watch it retreat
Into the protection
Of the trees
And then into the sky
Where the bright blue
Clashes with the golden yellow
Even when the blue
Eats the yellow up
And it is no more
The works of that butterfly
Will remain behind
Its elegance
Will stain the minds
Of those who were watching
