The clock strikes higher cords
as the moon reaches a new noch in the sky
each second ticks past me in the dust of reality
sitting at the edge of sanity--such a high cliff--
no one would be there to catch me from
myself of intervene in its tempting fall
its call strenuous on my alone ears
seems to be more a companion than one I could ever have.
