An American Contradiction
Britains found new land.
They gave settlers a helping hand.
But then we turned away from them,
And we tore away their limbs.
The Natives were on our side.
They fought with us, and saved our lives.
But then we turned away from them, And we tore away their limbs.
We stripped men and women from their Mother Lands.
Their sweat, blood, and tears were on our hands.
But then we turned away from them,
And we tore away their limbs.
We took off their chains from off of the ground,
But our laws and fears made SURE to keep them down.
But then we turned away from them.
And we tore away their limbs.
One of them stood and said, 'Enough is enough!
Your killing are children and burning our stuff--
Our homes, our kind, but where are the cuffs?
Our time has now come--
Witnessed by God, Above'
So then they turned away from US.
And they tore away OUR limbs.
