No Longer Free
The aroma of rain fills my lungs as I breathe in deep,
Forgetting everything for that split second of time,
Mud squishes and surrounds my bare feet,
And for that moment everything seems fine.
Savoring that minute and everything about it,
I tilt my head back and let the wind blow through my hair,
Everything, it seems, is so easy for forget,
And for that moment everything seems fair.
Something destroys the illusion I've made,
Something brings me back to reality,
Everything I just experienced was fake,
And I am no longer free.
