Velvet Bones
That’s what she looks like – velvet bones
All assembled, haphazardly, in a skin of polo shirt
And a moppy wedge of cold brown curls.
Those curls – tracing her forehead, carrying
The line through her jaw
Caressing her temple
Like something with a mind of its own -
Something wanting to touch her, to feel inside the rice paper skin
Beneath the dormant, rubber muscles
And kiss the white velvet bones.
