The Game of Soccer
The roar of the crowd
as I enter the stadium
thrills me and fills me
The bright shiny lights
beam down on the field
illuminating it
and protecting it
from the dark and cloudy night
I glide over the rough grass
feeling as if I’m floating on air
and take my position as center defender
I bounce lightly on my toes
letting the pungent smells of fast food
from the stands envelope my body
and the screams and shouts of excitement
fill my ears
A bitter taste fills my mouth;
the taste of anticipation
The whistle blows
The game begins
Now is the time to play the game
