Falling Down
she is falling,
he is falling,
falling to the ground.
falling to the ground.
sweetly, softly,
loudly, rudely,
you would hardly notice her.
you would have to notice him.
her hair falls,
his hair streams,
around her face,
back from his face,
like locks of gold,
like locks of mud,
you would be blinded.
you would be disgusted.
she is falling,
he is falling,
falling sweetly.
falling loudly.
the ground caves in,
the ground caves in,
and swallows her up,
and swallows him up,
that thin body
that thick body
of her who was falling.
of him who was falling.
they are not falling.
they are safe,
safe in the ground.
though total opposites,
together they are,
no longer falling.
