Dear You
I thought I was ready for this
For our relationship to prosper
But I’m not sure about us
I’m not sure about anything
It feels like we just met last month
And you proposed 3 weeks ago
Then 2 weeks ago we got married
Last week we went on our honeymoon
It felt so right then, like we were meant to be
But now it feels different, strained, fake
And I think we are moving too fast
And I don’t know if this is going to work anymore
I wanted to finish school and go on world adventures
You wanted a house and kids
You wanted a big family
I only wanted you
“I guess we didn’t really think it all through” I say
“We can talk it through now” you plead
But this is where you are wrong
We can’t talk about it now because it’s far too late
You want to go left and I want to go right
I say go south and you say north
We are just too different
Like cats and dogs, we are not meant to be together
So this is why I write to you
This sad and bittersweet poem
I am leaving tonight to travel the world
And this time, I’m going without you
So good bye I say
To my once true love
I will miss you forever
But we are better apart
Love yours truly,
Me
