Hidden Soldiers
There are soldiers among us, who don’t don a uniform,
Who don’t fight for our country,
Instead they have the give every ounce of strength they have,
To fight for themselves.
These soldiers don bandanas to cover up their loss of hair,
Wear oxygen masks to help them breathe,
And put on brave smiles despite the pain.
These soldiers are normal people just like us,
Except they’ve been through more than we can ever imagine.
These soldiers were given a special mission from God,
That is at times difficult to understand.
Unlike the soldiers in uniform,
These special soldiers didn’t choose to fight initially,
Yet they had the courage to do so with support from family and friends.
Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, Leukemia, ALS, MS, and more called these soldiers into battle,
A battle to fight for their lives,
A battle which often goes unnoticed,
In a crowd full of people hurrying on with their busy lives.
So while we are praying for the soldiers in uniforms,
Take time to add one more prayer,
For the hidden soldiers among us,
Fighting courageous battles each day of their lives.
