Mother May I
You compare me to someone I will never be
You will never understand you will never see
The beauty in me is ugly to you.
I have no more options I’ve got nothing left to do
Cause you’ve made mistakes
And so have I
You scream we fight.
When you tell me you love me it’s just a lie.
& when we fight
Your words become sharp
Aiming to kill aiming at my heart
My sanity is clearly at stake I’m slowly wasting away
Living with this burden, haunted by disappointment day by day
Mother May I be myself
Or should I be like someone else?
I want to give you my pain
Share in the wealth
Just to see if you can deal with yourself
Deal with all the regrets and denial
But do it like me with a painted on smile.
