Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
The aches
The pains
The blood curdling screams
Through the rain
Bombs parade the sky
Each man holding his gun
Fear creeps through the body
But there’s no time to run
A dream, you scream
From your safe warm bed
And although you’ve returned home,
You wish you were dead
A ticking clock
Shoots fear up your spine
You reassure yourself it’s not a bomb,
For the first time your fine
When your eyelids close
Blood is all you see
You to tape your eyes open
Just to be free
Your hands tremble
Matching your rapid heart beat
You hold them together
Not willing to admit defeat
Tears stream down
Your tired, mud stained face
You’ve forgotten how to silence the screams
Piece of mind, is an unreachable place.
The man you shot
The life you took
All to prove a point
And be tallied in a book
Your family claims to understand
But they never truly will
Maybe the pain and sorrow
But not what it’s like to kill
