Searching
He walks slowly,
dragging his foot behind him.
His foot was injured in the war.
The war in which he fought hard for his country.
His country that gave him nothing back.
(In fact, they took everything away from him.)
He came home to find his house empty,
blood on the walls;
they left only his memories.
She was gone,
she didn’t wait for her solider to come back again.
Her words of encouragement burned in his ears.
(He always carried them in his heart.)
All day he wanders the streets,
all night he walks.
Searching for the one that wouldn’t wait;
searching for the one he loves.
