Tears slide down her blackened cheeks.
Makes her cry harder as she tries to speak.
Forcing its way into her throat.
She coughs and gasps as she begins to choke.
It crawls over her skin, lapping at every cell.
Blackens the hope she had begun to build.
Brings down the wall, burns every little bit.
She falls to her knees, trying to regrip.
Her fingers flail, the light goes out.
Her eyes flutter as she tries to shout.
Waiting for someone upon the ground,
Knowing that no one is ever around.
