Waiting For An Answer
If I were to scream my heart out tonight would anybody hear me?
Would anybody hear my unanswered question?
Would somebody answer?
I wouldn’t care who they were,
Whether they are male female,
Different race or different language,
It wouldn’t matter…not to me.
Just as long as they heard the question,
“Would you love me?”
And answered softly,
“Yes”
I tell you this but you don’t understand,
You say that I don’t know what I’m talking about.
That I shouldn’t feel like this,
To quit trying to make myself into someone I’m not,
But you just don’t get it.
That I’m proud of who I am and what I am,
I’m proud to be the girl who’s weird, quiet, nerd, freak,
Calm, caring, silently strong, Bi-Sexual.
So go ahead talk down to me,
Insult me,
Call me a sinner,
A heathen,
Monster.
I don’t care.
You won’t be able to break me,
After all, even though you use your sticks and stones to break my bones,
Your words will never cut me.
I won’t listen to your words,
So hateful and violent,
I’ll listen to mine.
Sharp yet kind.
They’ll fly in the night wind,
And send my message throughout the world,
To anyone who will listen.
And to anybody who has been hurt,
Anybody who has been broken,
Who have been crying for so long, they don’t know how to stop,
To those that can’t remember how to feel,
This is for you.
I’m here so don’t hesitate.
Raise your voices into the night,
And as one, send your messages.
And I’ll be here waiting,
Under the same sky,
For your answers.

Also I was inspired by the song Life Left To Go by SafetySuit, the lyrics really helped me get over my fear of writing this poem
