From a Beginning Poet
Poetry escapes me
Words slip through my fingers
And fall clumsily on the page
I convey tender love with a sledgehammer
And impart wisdom with a cinderblock
There are those who weave verses seamlessly
Clear insight sweetened with sparkling wit
I have yet to join their ranks
Whatever there is that governs poetic attempts
That injects magic into humble verses
Infect my mind, seep through my veins, and pierce my heart
Give my an ear for the truth
An eye into the mind
And a window into the soul
